The Paraiso Eco Lodge is surrounded by 200 hectares of primary tropical rainforest and is part of a reforestation project designed to save what is left of the fragile and already damaged ecosystems in the area. The property is run by an indigenous Kichwa family who will guide you deep into the rainforest to the waterfalls and a lookout where you can see Ecuadors most active volcano Mt Sangay erupting amongst the forest.
Marco, the caretaker of the property, is an highly respected Shaman in the area with an incredible knowledge of the local plant and animal life in the rainforest as well as natural herbal medicine. Marco can teach visitors the ancient traditions of his culture and be their guide to the sacred hallucinogenic plants Ayahuasca and Malicaja that are used during Shamanic ceremonies.
